Salt in Wound

There was going to be a comic about Anime Boston, but considering nothing terribly funny happened at Anime Boston, not much of a comic could be made. As such, I rushed this one out door. I’ve actually had this on my mind for a while, but I didn’t have a good punchline… until Madoka became extremely popular. I’m not a huge fan of the show, but I can’t deny that it’s successful, and I hope Shinbou-kantoku is making mad bank.

But yeah, if you can’t tell, the portly man with the longer hair is Shinbou Akiyuki, and the slim man in the suit is Yamamoto “Yamakan” Yutaka. Yamakan has actually quit making anime since his latest work Fractale failed to make many waves, hence this comic’s subject matter.

In a bit of site-related news, I received a cute bit of fanart the other day. Check it out in the fanart gallery.

(It says “Bar Sazabi,” by the way.)

Great comic, I thought this whole Yamakan vs Shinbo had to be made into a comic in some way or another.
I guess he couldn’t save the anime industry… Maybe he’ll be off to save some local McDonald’s restaurant.

  2. Magusman says:

Amusing comic. Though Yamakan looks odd in panel 4 and it looks like he’s crying blood in the last panel.

  3. TheBigN says:

Yes. Glad to see Yamakan still look clean and polished. I’d sort of expect him to look like wreck now. :3

Maybe he’s found a larger purpose in life since “retirement”.

  4. Nutberry says:

I was hoping someone would make a Madoka cash-cow joke at one point. Well played, sir. Well played!

  5. RollingBox says:

For an anime about super powered lolies, I’m surprised I liked Madoka.

  6. Dr. Who says:

    Tears of BLOOD. That’s hardcore.

    Yamakan, u mad bro?

Nice quickie light glow effect with the brush work. Simple, and highly effective.
